If you live near Belmar, you already know the plaza gets loud on Thursdays. What you may not have clocked is that a second, entirely separate concert series runs Wednesday nights at Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park, about a mile south of the shops. Same summer, same neighborhood, two different crowds, two different price points, and one Friday in July when both audiences pour into the same block for a drone show. Knowing which stage runs which night is the difference between a spontaneous weeknight out and driving over to a dark plaza.
Here is how the calendar actually splits.
The Wednesday Stage: Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park
The ticketed series is the one most people miss because it is not on the plaza. Lakewood's Sounds Exciting! offers affordable entertainment June 17 through July 29, 2026, at the Amphitheater at Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park, with Wednesday evening shows starting at 6:15 p.m. with an opening act, followed by headliners at 7:15 p.m. The venue itself sits at 801 S. Yarrow St., inside the historic park grounds, and the city officially calls it the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Amphitheater, set against the historic backdrop of Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park.
Pricing is where this series earns its "affordable" label. Tickets are $13 in advance and $18 day of show, with children's tickets (12 and under) $10, and season tickets are $60. Do the math on the season pass. Seven Wednesdays at advance pricing would run $91, so the season ticket pays for itself before the halfway point of the run. If you plan to catch even four shows, buying the pass and gifting the extras to a neighbor is cheaper than buying individually.
A few practical notes worth having in your phone:
- Gates open at 5 p.m., all seating is first-come, first-served lawn seating, and you can bring your own low-height lawn chair or blanket.

Two nights on that grid deserve a closer look. The Dotsero booking on July 16 is the one to arrive early for. They pull a bigger crowd than the plaza is sized for, so a 5:45 p.m. arrival is the difference between a seat with sightlines and a spot behind a planter. The other is August 6, when Silent Disco on Belmar Plaza happens Thursday Aug 6 at 8 p.m., meaning you can roll from a live band straight into headphones on the same block.
The plaza address for both series is 439 S. Upham Street, and there is a reason the plaza feels different from a park lawn: it is walled by restaurants. The organizers explicitly encourage grabbing takeout from a surrounding Belmar restaurant, and public restrooms are located off the north side of The Plaza in the Paseo next to Locust Cider. July 3 Collapses Both Calendars Into One Night
The one Friday you should protect on your calendar is July 3. The plaza's regular Thursday format is set aside for a much bigger event.
Friday, July 3 from 5:00 to 9:30 p.m. at The Plaza at Belmar, 439 S. Upham Street, in partnership with the City of Lakewood. Live entertainment, food and drinks from Belmar restaurants, activities for kids, and the evening wraps up with a drone show at approximately 9:15 PM.
The drone show is the tell that this is not a normal plaza night. A traditional fireworks show pulls a diffuse crowd across a wide viewing radius. A drone show is precisely staged for one viewing angle, which means the plaza itself becomes the venue and the surrounding blocks fill up fast. To prepare for the event, several streets close at various times throughout the day, so if you live on the east side of Wadsworth and plan to walk in, leave earlier than you think you need to.
The practical read for a Lakewood household: if you have out-of-town family in for the Fourth, July 3 is your headline event and July 4 becomes a recovery day. Most people schedule it backwards.
The Quieter Stuff Off the Plaza
Two more items belong on any resident's summer shortlist, and neither is a concert.
Free movie in O'Kane Park. Hamilton, free, at O'Kane Park on Tuesday June 30 at 6 p.m., three days before the Big Belmar Bash. O'Kane is a walkable neighborhood park rather than a destination venue, which means the crowd tends to be locals with kids and camp chairs rather than a regional draw.
Summer Cruiser Bike Rides. Family-friendly Summer Cruiser Bike Rides at Belmar, hosted by Alameda Connects, Belmar, and the organizers of the Denver Cruiser Ride, are rolling back into Lakewood for Summer 2026. If you have been on a Denver Cruiser Ride before, the Lakewood version runs on the same relaxed premise, with easier parking on the plaza end.
One New Dinner Option Worth Building a Night Around
If your version of a summer evening is dinner before the show rather than a food truck at the amphitheater, there is a genuinely new option worth trying. Metro Pie Pizza is slinging Hong Kong-inspired pies in Lakewood, per Westword's March 2026 roll call of Denver-area openings. Hong Kong-style pizza is a specific thing, not a marketing flourish. Expect thinner crusts, unexpected toppings, and a menu that reads differently from the Neapolitan and Detroit-style spots that have dominated the Denver metro's recent openings. It is the kind of restaurant that would have been a novelty in a Denver core neighborhood and instead landed in Lakewood, which is a small marker of how the western suburbs' food scene has shifted.
How to Use This Post as a Planning Tool
Pull up your calendar and block three recurring windows through July: Wednesday 6 to 9 p.m. for Heritage amphitheater shows you want, Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. for the plaza acts that fit your taste, and Friday July 3 as a full evening. Everything else, the movie in the park, the cruiser rides, the Metro Pie test run, slots around those anchors.
